Job Summary:
The Lead Medical Biller will manage the full revenue cycle process, including claim submission, insurance follow-up, payment posting, appeals, and resolution of outstanding accounts. This role focuses on patients in assisted living and skilled nursing settings and requires a strong background in therapy billing and insurance regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Submit timely and accurate claims to private insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid
Verify and review therapist-entered charges and diagnoses for coding accuracy
Post payments and adjustments accurately to patient accounts
Manage appeals for denied or underpaid claims and consult with management on complex cases
Communicate with insurance carriers to resolve claim issues and verify reimbursement criteria
Provide medical records and required documentation to payers as needed
Perform insurance verifications and communicate authorization requirements clearly
Stay current on ICD-10, CPT codes, and payer-specific guidelines
Meet all processing and reporting deadlines
Cross-train and assist in related billing functions such as credentialing and insurance verification
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum of 3 years of medical billing experience
Facility and outpatient billing experience required; therapy billing preferred
Knowledge of NetHealth and Waystar platforms a plus
Previous provider credentialing experience preferred
Skills:
Proficient in ICD-10, CPT, and medical coding standards
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
Team player with a customer service mindset
Flexible and willing to cross-train in multiple billing functions
