Why Being Independent is Important
Friday Services is deeply rooted in the community of businesses and employees we serve. Like them, we call Western North Carolina home. Our decisions are centered around what is important to our clients – who we know well because they are also our regional neighbors.
History of Friday Services
The company had its origin in 1980, when Debbie Wilson, a service-minded woman in Hendersonville, North Carolina, started a secretarial business for local clients; typing letters and reports, and offering general office support. People found the services to be exactly the type of help they needed. Clients asked Debbie if the services could be provided at their business location – thus the beginning of “Girl Friday Services.”
In the mid-eighties, some temporary Rockwell engineers approached Debbie and informed her they were not keen on working for a company with this name. Debbie then changed the name to “Friday Temporary Services.”
The business grew, as did Debbie’s two small children. In August 1987, she decided to sell the business to devote more time to her family.

Diane and John Modaff
Diane and John Modaff moved from Illinois to Western North Carolina in 1985. John worked for twenty-five years as a commercial banking executive while Diane enjoyed working as a temporary office employee for the Arthur Anderson Company. They wanted to try their hands at something new together, with their backgrounds both firmly rooted in similar fields; dedicated to helping people. The opportunity to purchase a local staffing company presented itself and they jumped at the chance.
John changed the name of the company to Friday Staffing Services aka Friday Services.
