POSITION REPORTS TO: Vice President of Operations and Production


Manages projects and acts as liaison between the company and customer during the course of a project.


  • Safety 24/7/365
  • Manages all aspects of assigned projects
  • Review and understand contracts, terms and conditions, scope of work, subcontract items, billing requirements, etc.
  • Conduct project meetings with Sales/Estimating, Drafting, and Purchasing to review job requirements, target deliveries, advance shipments, sequencing and purchased items
  • Monitors progress of advance bills for materials and buy-out items

o Material mill order released to purchasing

o Receipt of contract drawings by vendors

o Material received at the company

  • Monitors progress of shop drawings

o Drawings sent for approval

o Return of approved drawings from contractor

o Release of drawings from contractor

o Coordination of commodity items with structural steel

o Drawings sent for field use prior to delivery of steel

  • Reviews approved drawings for changes which might warrant extras to contract and forwards to Drafting/Estimating
  • Reviews buy out and commodity items relative to project to insure furnished in accordance with contract documents
  • Create, maintain overall project schedule from release to proceed through final delivery and project close out, including detailing approvals, fabrication and delivery
  • Provide periodic schedule updates as required by customer
  • Review revised design drawings, RFI’s and other communications for cost and schedule impacts
  • Issue and manage change order requests to customer
  • Manage monthly billing process for assigned projects
  • Field all calls from customers/vendors
  • Handle field issues. Involve necessary personnel to resolve problem professionally and efficiently
  • Advise sales on any developments that have bearing on relationships with customers
  • Develop good working relationships with customers
  • Note customers’ dissatisfactions and suggest methods for improving
  • Approve and/or disapprove subcontract invoices
  • Attend production meetings to update information to necessary personnel
  • Maintains contract status reports to insure receipt of customer change order for additional work
  • Other duties as assigned by Upper Management


Sitting, Bending, and Standing for long periods of time Physical ability to work and maneuver around work areas


Knowledge of structural steel fabrication and general construction practices

Knowledge of applicable codes and standards including AISC Code of Standard Practice, AISC Steel Specification, RCSC, AWS, etc.

5 years experience in Structural Steel Fabrication preferred

BS degree in engineering or construction management preferred but not required

Ability to work to deadlines

Professional written and oral communication skills are required

Proficient computer skills are required

Valid Driver’s License
