Lead CNC Programmer/Machinist
Location: Fletcher, NC

Schedule: 3rd Shift 5:00 PM – 3:30 AM
Pay: $18/hour
Our client is seeking an experienced Lead CNC Programmer/Machinist with strong CNC programming, machining, and CAD/CAM experience. This position is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment to produce small lots of precision-machined parts to detailed drawings and specified tolerances. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently or as part of a small team.
Key Responsibilities
Program, set up, and operate CNC horizontal lathes and 5-axis milling machines
Produce small lots of precision-machined parts according to drawings and specified tolerances
Use CAD/CAM software to generate programs and export post processors for CNC machinery
Select appropriate tooling to produce parts efficiently and accurately
Configure and set machine offsets within CNC controls
Read and interpret mechanical drawings with minimal tolerances
Develop and work with fixtures and work holding concepts
Operate manual mills and lathes
Perform quality checks using micrometers, calipers, GO/NO-GO gauges, and other measurement tools
Perform preventative maintenance and maintain equipment according to manufacturer recommendations
Troubleshoot equipment and perform minor repairs as needed
Safely operate CNC machinery, forklifts, and overhead cranes
Transport materials as needed
Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Maintain quality standards to minimize interruptions in production
Adapt to changing production schedules and priorities
Assist with other duties as assigned by management
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Proven experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment
Experience with CAD/CAM
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
Strong understanding of machining tooling and processes
Experience using measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and GO/NO-GO gauges
Knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, and Mazatrol machining controls
Ability to configure and set machine offsets
Strong understanding of metric measurements
Knowledge of geometric, algebraic, and trigonometric calculations
Manual mill and lathe experience
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks
Preferred Experience
Experience operating or programming the following equipment is a plus:
