We are partnering with a mission-driven environmental services company to hire a Level II Biological Wastewater Operator in Columbus, NC. This is a direct hire opportunity offering flexibility in scheduling (20–40 hours/week – your choice!) and the opportunity to work in a collaborative, growth-focused environment. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in operating wastewater treatment systems efficiently, maintaining compliance, and continuously improving plant performance.

What You’ll Do

As a Biological Wastewater Operator, you will play a critical role in maintaining safe and compliant plant operations. Responsibilities include:

  • Operate and maintain biological wastewater treatment systems within permit limits

  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot treatment processes (pH, coagulation, flocculation, clarification, etc.)

  • Adjust and maintain chemical feed systems independently

  • Complete required reporting, including discharge monitoring reports

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations

  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to improve plant performance

  • Respond to operational needs, including occasional off-hours or weekend work

  • Mentor and support less experienced operators when needed

  • Maintain accurate data using systems like Service Fusion or similar platforms

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • NC Grade II Biological Wastewater Operator License (or higher is acceptable)

  • At least 1+ year of wastewater operations experience

  • Strong understanding of biological treatment processes

  • Ability to troubleshoot systems independently

  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office and reporting systems)

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in industrial environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with scheduling or field service software

  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and inspections

Work Schedule & Pay

  • Flexible hours: 20–40 hours per week – you chose if you want to work PT or FT

  • Pay: $26/hour

  • Direct hire (permanent placement)
