Description: TEAM LEAD POSITION
POSITION REPORTS TO: Shop Supervisor
POSITIONS REPORTING TO: Asheville Production Team Members
FLSA STATUS: Exempt – Management
BASIC FUNCTION: General management of Production Team Members as directed by the Shop Supervisor. Perform various duties to ensure that all facility expectations, production, safety, on-time delivery and overall processes are running according to company needs. Prepare various reports as needed. Coordinate daily with Shop supervisor.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safety 24/7/365
- Understand and be able to perform the responsibilities of the Shop Supervisor when the Shop Supervisor is not available
- Demonstrate good communication in providing clear direction and goals to assigned team members
- Review daily production schedule with Shop Supervisor to ensure a mutual understanding of the daily, weekly, monthly and long term goals
- Lead by Example
- Ensure production schedule is being followed and deadlines are being met
- Work closely with Shop Supervisor to schedule hours to accommodate weekly schedule
- Ensure all QMS procedures related to production are being followed
- Monitor and verify production efficiency assuring material fabricated for complete shipments
- Participate in craft team member interviews, disciplinary actions, terminations and lay-offs
- Continuous review of potential methods and/or equipment available to keep shop efficient and productive.
- Assist in resolving team member questions on drawings and/or those needed to maintain production flow
- Fill out daily activity plans (DAP) the day before for the following day’s start of shift meetings
- Conduct start of shift tasks:
- Assemble assigned team members at the start of shift.
- Lead stretches.
- Evaluate every team member for “fit for duty”.
- Present daily safety topic during stretches, as well as announcements
- Review daily activity plan (DAP) with assigned team members.
- Ensure assigned team members sign DAP.
- Plan and organize work activities to meet production commitments.
- Ensure that all assigned team members are actively participating in good housekeeping practices.
- Ensure all work product meets all customer requirements.
- Anticipate obstacles, potential problems and issues with required work prior to impact on safety, schedule, budget and/or quality, and proactively develop methods to mitigate.
- Assign work product commensurate with team members’ knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Ensure assigned team members are utilizing equipment properly including any required preventative maintenance tasks.
- Coordinate with maintenance to ensure all tools and equipment are in a safe and proper working condition.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Lifting 50 pounds or more repetitively, Bending, Sitting and Standing for long periods of time
Physical ability to work and climb on and around work supports
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent
Five years’ experience in leading a team with similar responsibilities in a heavy industrial environment
Must have the ability and desire to work as part of the production team
Ability to work safely
Ability to handle multiple priorities and complete tasks on time
Ability to read and follow written instructions
Must have good verbal and written communication skills
Must have computer skills with MS office and outlook
