Job Position: Staff Accountant – Accounts Payable

Location: Asheville, NC, NC 28801

Pay Rate: $20.00-21.00/hr

Shift: 8a-5p M-F

As a valued Staff Accountant, you will collaborate closely with Senior Accounting Staff, making significant contributions to the organization’s success.


• Manage the accurate processing and recording of accounts payable transactions, ensuring adherence to Finance policies and procedures.

• Prepare and record accounting-related entries across various registers, journals, and logs.

• Follow established accounting processes for robust fiscal management within the organization.

• Accrue expenses, assign account numbers, request disbursements, and reconcile accounts to facilitate seamless payment processes.

• Review expense coding, ensuring precise general ledger postings.

• Process monthly expense reports, Purchasing Card transactions, and receipts submitted by staff.

• Record sales and use tax accurately on applicable transactions and generate related reports.

• Maintain vendor W-9 information and prepare annual 1099 statements.

• Provide detailed analysis and explanations for all financial transactions.

• Protect confidentiality of financial information and prepare documentation for external auditors.

• Develop and implement effective accounting procedures, recommending changes as needed.

• Analyze information through spreadsheet reports, verifying data for accuracy.

• Answer accounting and financial queries by researching and interpreting data.

• Enhance job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, and participation in organizations.

• Perform monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed assets depreciation, and adjusting journal entries.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.

  • Proficient in Word and Excel.

  • Knowledge and ability to use relevant information technology and systems.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.

  • Prioritize workload effectively in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
